About

The Lee-Fendall House Museum is a historic house museum located in Old Town Alexandria. Built in 1785, it has been home to members of the Lee family, enslaved people and domestic servants, convalescing Union soldiers, the prominent Downham family, and influential labor leader John L. Lewis. Through the lives of the people who lived and worked here, the museum tells the story of over two centuries of local and national history. The Lee-Fendall House is on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
