VA250 Executive Assistant

The Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250), a legislative branch agency tasked with planning the statewide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and American independence, is seeking an Executive Assistant.
The Executive Assistant will provide sophisticated, proactive administrative and research support for the Commission to ensure that all staff and members can efficiently accomplish key tasks and initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Track projects and ensure that requests for information and reports are met on time
  • Provide front-line communications for the VA250 office, responding to visitors, telephone calls, and email inquiries
  • Maintain calendar and organize communications for Executive Director
  • Schedule Commission meetings, prepare meeting materials, compile minutes
  • Assist with procurement, supplies, and general office organization
  • Conduct research for senior staff
  • Assist with fiscal and accounting operations
  • Assist with basic graphic design of collateral materials
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, composed under pressure, and consistently professional.
     
    Required Skills

  • Substantial experience in office operations, administrative processes, accounting, and procurement procedures
  • Strong computer skills including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, database management and graphics software applications. Experience with MS Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud and/or InDesign preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage, and perform multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while giving special attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of professionals, elected and appointed officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise excellent judgment at all times.

    Experience

    At least seven years of experience in an executive administrative or comparable role.
    Education commensurate with desired experience may be considered.
