5th Annual LexRockBV Juneteenth

5th Annual LexRockBV Juneteenth

About

The greater Rockbridge community is again invited to Lexington’s Richardson Park on Saturday, June 21, to cap the month’s run of Juneteenth celebrations and commemorative events. Food trucks will serve a wide variety of tastes, with many honoring traditional foodways for the holiday. Craft vendors, a bounce house and basketball court for children, and a colorful “Pop-Up Car Show” will run through the evening.

Local author Maxine Mays Gray will be holding a book signing and reading excerpts from her novel, The Crows’ Post, centered around the experiences of Glasgow’s mid-20th-century Black community.

The Rockbridge Historical Society will have a camera and microphone in hand to Share Your Stories with Our Next Generations: recording personal anecdotes, accounts of ancestry, and institutional and communal histories, to be added into our growing collection, and digital archive.

Along with line dancing, the featured musical act will encore its performance here last year. Charlottesville’s 100 PROOF GOGO BAND will raise the roof again, for all who gather around the park’s pavilion to dance, picnic, or catch up with neighbors.
