Historic Landscapes Lecture and Garden Tour

Historic Landscapes Lecture and Garden Tour

About

Celebrate National Great Outdoors Month by joining Stratford Hall’s Director of Landscapes, Matt Peterschmidt, for an insightful talk on 18th-century landscapes and a guided tour of Stratford Hall’s historic gardens.

Come for a lecture in the Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Library at Stratford Hall beginning at 10am, then take a casual walking tour of the grounds and gardens that surround the Great House of Stratford Hall. This lecture and tour will look at the past, present, and future of the landscape around the nearly 300-year-old Great House. Learn of the different influences that have shaped the landscape from before the Lee family’s ownership up until present day.

Visitors can expect long periods of walking and standing during the tour and to encounter uneven brick and gravel pathways. Pat of this experience is outdoors, so please dress for the weather, bring sunscreen, and a bottle of water.

Limited spaces are available and advance registration is required.

$30 per person
