An Insider

About

In the history of every nation, there is a moment that becomes the turning point toward nationhood. For the United States, that is at f5:00 AM on the 19th of April, 1775—on the simple town common at Lexington, Massachusetts. There, Minutemen formed by the Massachusetts Provincial Congress faced the troops of the Crown. Gunfire broke out, and within days, news of the "Lexington Alarm" spread throughout the colonies. The war for American liberty had come.
Join Loudoun public historian and longtime history teacher Rich Gillespie for his insider's look at the battle on Lexington Green. Born and raised in Lexington, a mile-and-a-half from Lexington Green, Rich's first job was as an Official Lexington Town Guide. He will share the story, its evolution in the public mind, and his insights as the 250th anniversary of this historic battle approaches.
