Mathews VA250 Participates in Christmas Parade

About

Mathews VA250 Committee volunteers will be in the forefront of the town’s Saturday, December 14 Christmas parade, 1:00 pm, which welcomes Santa to Mathews. Volunteers will escort area children who carry the VA250 banner, and will distribute information and VA250 car decals to the crowd. Also in the VA250 contingent will be a color guard from the Richard Henry Lee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Included in that color guard will be a descendant of Lieutenant Colonel John Gasper Stadler, a seasoned military engineer who was responsible for building the earthworks on Gwynn’s Island used by the Patriot forces during the battle of Cricket Hill when those forces drove Lord Dunmore and his Loyalists from Virginia for the last time.
