Henry's Ride for Liberty

Henry

About

It is March 1775 at Scotchtown in Hanover Virginia and Patrick Henry is contemplating the impactful speech he would soon deliver to the Virginia Convention at St. John’s Church. For the 250th anniversary of this momentous occasion, experience interactive vignettes with living historians as we examine what liberty meant to the people of the 18th century in Hanover County featuring Patrick Henry, members of Henry’s family, and the enslaved individuals who lived and worked at Scotchtown. Mr. Henry will then mount his horse and dramatically ride off to Richmond and St. John’s Church to secure his place in history!
For an even more unique and special experience, join our VIP bus group! Limited to 50 guests only, the VIP experience will include a private tour of our new exhibit with our Curator of Collections, reserved spaces for the vignette program, a catered box lunch and a guided discussion of Henry’s Hanover and Richmond on the ride to St. John’s Church where you will have reserved seats for a panel discussion with Patrick Henry, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
