The current Mayor of Norfolk, the Honorable Kenneth Alexander, will present General Lafayette with a City Proclamation of Welcome at the Norfolk City Hall at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, October 22. This marks the exact date of Lafayette’s 1824 arrival in Norfolk, and the ceremony will kick off a series of celebratory events planned in Norfolk. It will be held in the small park outside the southern entrance to City Hall and is open to the public.
