Prince George County Regional Heritage Center

About

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regional Heritage Center is open by appointment only. Please call the Heritage Center to schedule an appoitnment.

The Prince George County Regional Heritage Center tells the stories of one of Virginia's most historic and oldest counties. The center is located in the old Prince George Courthouse which has stood at the center of Prince George County since 1883. Step into the timeline of a history that begins before human habitation and continues to travel through the development of a region that is today home for major industry and high technology. Experience exhibits, uncover ancestral roots, and enjoy displayed artifacts that enhance the story of this land and its people. The Center is a unique place to visit and explore time and time again.

Don't miss the gallery that presents the stories of 300+ Eastern European immigrant families who arrived in the 1881-1920 timeframe and settled on farms abandoned after the Civil War. Ancestors of those families remain in the county and continue to be community leaders. The Czech & Slovak Folklife Festival is held every October to celebrate their heritage.

The Feature Exhibit for Spring 2021 is a botanically themed Early American Pattern Glass. This collection is on loan from Joan and Brian Waymack, and is an amazing display of artisan crafting and garden knowledge.
