The movie Remember the Titans was about the animosity and struggle between Black and white students at TC Williams, a newly integrated school in Northern Virginia, in 1971. The movie focuses on the football team which finally comes together to win the state championship. The movie does not credit the Titans’ actual opponent, Salem’s Andrew Lewis High School. Salem’s schools had integrated peacefully six years before, serving as a model for progress in civil rights.
