Dedicated on June 6, 1898 by the Turner Ashby Chapter 162 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, this stone monument marks the spot where Confederate General Turner Ashby died in the Battle of Harrisonburg at Chestnut Ridge on June 6, 1862. The site is open to the public and can be accessed via Turner Ashby Lane, located off of Neff Avenue near Port Republic Road in Harrisonburg.
