Patrick Henry's Red Hill

Patrick Henry

About

Red Hill is the last home and burial place of Patrick Henry, Virginia's first elected governor and the Voice of the American Revolution. Since 1944, the site has been preserved and shared with the public, honoring its full history—including the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked there and the Indigenous peoples whose land it occupies.

The Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation, which acquired the property from his great-granddaughter, Lucy Gray Henry Harrison, has restored the grounds with a museum housing the nation's largest collection of Patrick Henry artifacts. Red Hill seeks to present a more inclusive narrative of America's founding by supporting scholarship, conducting educational programs, and continuing property stewardship.
