Give Me Liberty Exhibition

Opening March 22, 2025

Virginia & The Forging of a Nation

The first major 250th show in the nation, Give Me Liberty is a signature 5,000 square foot exhibition will be displayed at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown throughout 2025 to 2027.

This exhibition will focus on events throughout the revolutionary period and inspire a deep appreciation for the continental and global forces as well as the individual actions by both iconic and ordinary people that brought about a model of democratic government that would change the world. Immersive multimedia scenes bring significant moments in history to life. Visitors can experience the electrifying atmosphere at St. John’s Church where Patrick Henry delivered his famous speech and see an early tavern and print house where many lively conversations occurred.

The March 22 opening of “Give Me Liberty” will coincide with the 250th anniversary of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech. The Virginia Museum of History & Culture will be livestreaming the historical reenactments from St. John’s Church at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.

Revolution Revisited

Revolution Revisited

Revolution Revisited,” the multi-season podcast, offers a fresh examination of the origins and impacts of the American Revolution. Produced as part of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture’s 250th Initiative, and as a companion to its marquee exhibition, “Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation,” this podcast is a must-listen resource as part of America’s milestone anniversary. It isn’t just a recounting of dates—it is a fascinating look at the people, ideas, and events that changed the world. Beyond familiar figures like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, “Revolution Revisited” uncovers the pivotal roles of lesser-known individuals, like Clementina Rind, in the burgeoning nation’s quest for independence. Go behind the scenes with leading historians, authors, and other experts and learn about key artifacts at the VMHC that connect the ideals of the past with our world today.

Traveling Exhibition

Complementary panel exhibits will travel statewide bringing the inspiration of independence to citizens across the Commonwealth. This traveling exhibition will consist of 10 double-sided retractable banner units. Versions of the exhibition will also be available as free-standing double-sided panels.
