What should I expect this Fourth of July?
Presented by the VA250 Commission, this Fourth of July event will transform the Virginia State Capitol into a vibrant hub of activity, bursting with the sights and sounds of Virginia’s diverse communities including musical and spoken word performances, keynote speakers, food trucks, reenactments, and more. This event will only be happening in the State Capitol this year.

Registration is not required. So that we can plan for your attendance, please RSVP to let us know how many people to expect.

This Independence Day event will take place on the majestic Virginia State Capitol grounds in Richmond, VA.

Where do I park? Do I have to pay for parking?
Public parking is FREE and will be located at the parking garage on 14th St. & Main St. Shuttles will be provided to transport guests from the parking garage to the Capitol Square at 9th St. & Grace St.

Will there be food and drinks available?
FREE bottled water will be provided at stations located throughout the Capitol Square. Food trucks will be parked along 9th St. & Grace St.
What should I wear?
Please dress appropriately for warm weather. An air-conditioned cooling tent will be available. In case of rain, bring a poncho or jacket. Umbrellas will NOT be permitted on Capitol Square.
Will there be seating available?
Picnic blankets are encouraged to sit and lounge on the grounds of Capitol Square as chairs are not permitted.
