Mobile Museum Specialist

The VA250 Commission is seeking passionate and engaging individuals to join our Mobile Museum Experience team. The VA250 Mobile Museum Experience “Out of Many, One,” is traveling across the Commonwealth sharing the stories of everyday Virginians from 250 years ago, the fundamental role that Virginia played in our nation’s founding, and how that legacy has been passed on to each subsequent generation as we continue to work toward “a more perfect union” together.

This position is part of a team of ambassadors that travel to wherever the Mobile Museum goes to provide a welcoming and hospitable environment and a rewarding learning experience for visitors and the public.

This part-time role requires travel availability, with some weekends and evenings required, and is limited to 1,500 hours a year from April 1st to March 31st.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a family-friendly, welcoming environment for audiences of all ages and backgrounds
  • Interact directly with guests of all ages, orienting them to the exhibition
  • Provide VA250 information to visitors, including highlighting nearby places to visit and VA250 events
  • Responsible for merchandise sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Commission’s goals

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with providing customer service, historical interpretation/presentation, educational programming, and/or public engagement
  • Successful completion of a background check

 

Confidential Office Assistant

The VA250 Commission is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Confidential Office Assistant to support daily office operations and assist leadership with administrative tasks. This part-time role requires 24 hours per week, with in-office work from Monday through Wednesday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily office operations to ensure efficiency.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director and CFO, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
  • Organize, copy, and maintain files to support record-keeping and compliance.
  • Assist with data entry, report preparation, and internal communications as needed.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the Commission’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative training is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or office support role is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office technology.
  • Experience with Cardinal FIN/HCM systems is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
