Saint Peter's Church in New Kent, Virginia is home to where George and Martha Washington attended church. It is considered the First Church of the First Lady. The New Kent 250th Committee will host a Liber-tea with a brief introduction and history by members of the New Kent Historical Society and the New Kent Historic Commission. Tea service will include what "tea service" would look like in 1776 with reference to historical boycotts, as well as a few modern-day tastes. Tea will be served in the Parrish Hall. The church will be open for tours after the tea. New Kent Parks and Recreation can assist with registration for the event, 804-966-8502 or www.newkent-va.us/parks. Registration is $35.00. Attendees are encouraged to dress in revolutionary time period dress or traditional red, white and blue.
