Breadmaking: From Hardtack to Batter Bread- Heritage Skills Workshop

About

Step back in time and discover the traditions of early American baking in this hands-on breadmaking class. You’ll mix doughs inspired by 18th-century recipes while exploring how resourcefulness shaped the diets of soldiers and civilians alike and develop a deeper appreciation for the simple, sustaining breads that fueled a revolution.

Designed as monthly programs for practicing the hands-on artistic, culinary, and practical skills of centuries past, these Heritage Skills Workshops are a great way to spend time with friends (and make new ones!) while gaining handicraft experience. Members of the Louisa Living History Guilds work with participants at all levels of experience!
