A Closer Look at Virginia Opera’s Intelligence: The Story of a Richmond Civil War Spy Ring

About

This special program at The Valentine Museum offers an immersive look at how Richmond’s history became the foundation for Intelligence. Adam Turner, Virginia Opera’s Artistic Director & Chief Conductor, will discuss the historical background of the opera and its creation, followed by a live vocal performance of selections from the score by a Virginia Opera artist.
The program will conclude with historical context from Christina Vida, The Valentine’s Elise H. Wright Curator of General Collections, who will situate the story of Intelligence within the broader history of Richmond and the lived experiences of those who shaped it.
When you register, you will receive a 20% off code by email to purchase tickets to the opera. Performances in Richmond are on February 6th and 8th, 2026.
