Step into the past and discover the stories that shaped the community. Germanna’s Community History Day, set for Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Area Campus, is an interactive celebration of local history, culture, and civic engagement. This event is free and open to the public and will include live performances & demos, immersive exhibits, dynamic presentations, and voter registration.

Scheduled exhibitors include the Spotsylvania County Museum, Central Rappahannock Heritage Center, Fredericksburg Area Museum, Fredericksburg Civil Rights Trail, Fredericksburg Food Co-op, Germanna History Project, King George Historical Society, League of Women Voters, National Museum of the Marine Corps, Spotsylvania Battlefield, Stafford County NAACP, University of Mary Washington Digital History Projects, Virginia Holocaust Museum, Virginia Museum of the Civil War, Washington Heritage Museums, the Weems-Botts Museum, and more!

Scheduled events at Sealy Auditorium include living history performances from Scandalous Women of the Civil War Guild (SWCWG) at 10 a.m.; a presentation on the Fredericksburg Civil Rights Trail with Chris Williams and Victoria Matthews at 11 a.m.; and "Sparking Freedom: Enslaved Resistance in Fredericksburg & Stafford Virginia" with Dr. Gaila Sims at noon.

The event is presented by Germanna’s Center for Teaching & Learning and the Division of Humanities & Social Sciences.
