An Occasion for the Arts

About

Experience the 57th Annual An Occasion For The Arts in Williamsburg - a true arts extravaganza. It is the area’s premier art and music festival. Stroll through an exceptional showcase of juried visual artists representing a wide variety of styles and mediums. Hear your favorite local musicians, check out the Youth Art Show, featuring students from around the area, and view fabulous original art. Something for everyone!

An Occasion for the Arts is thrilled to share the collaboration with Steve Prince, Director of Engagement & Distinguished Artist in Residence, Muscarelle Museum of Art. Steve engages the greater community with an interactive art project at the Festival that highlights how the individual is part of the whole, and how creativity can be a shared experience that leads to an inclusive community. This year, Steve will be conducting the 250th Great American Birthday Quilt in conjunction with VisitWilliamsburg. This 250-foot-long quilt project began on July 4th at Fort Monroe and will endeavor to complete the section by next July 4th in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday. This is part of a national event, inviting participants to "stitch their story" into a monumental quilt that will celebrate the country’s past, present, and future by joining quilt workshops in select cities, submitting quilting squares from home, or donating materials that will be incorporated into the quilt.
