The Williamsburg Chapter - Sons of the American Revolution's (SAR) inaugural commemoration of the November 25, 1774, James City County (JCC) Committee of Observation will be held at Freedom Park (5537 Centerville Rd.) on Sunday, November 24, 11 a.m. The commemoration is expected to last approximately 40 minutes. The event marks the 250th anniversary of the election of 29 freeholders to the JCC Committee of Observation. These men were elected to enforce the First Continental Congress's trade ban with Great Britain and establish local observation committees. Join us to learn more!
The ceremony will include a SAR color guard in colonial garb, a roll call of the 1774 committee members, wreath presentations by heritage societies and a musket volley. Light refreshments will be served. The keynote speaker is Ruth Larson, Chair, JCC Board of Supervisors.
