Museum of Culpeper History - History Alfresco

About

History Alfresco is the Museum of Culpeper History’s annual fall fundraising event. Past events have included rare access to privately owned historic properties, catered food and drink, guest lecturers, trivia, music, and more.

This year’s History Alfresco will be held the evening of Thursday, October 10 at Culpeper’s historic Greenwood with hosts Robert and Eleanor Long. The house, built in 1760, has long been the home of Culpeper’s Green family, including Virginia Supreme Court justice John Williams Green and newspaper editor Raleigh Green. Mrs. Long is a descendant of the Green family. The home was famously visited by Lafayette and former president James Monroe during Lafayette’s American tour in 1825.

Enjoy dinner catered by Distinguished Engagements of Sperryville, enjoy music from the early 19th century (and learn some dance steps of the time), bid on an assortment of exciting products and experiences in our live silent auction, and learn about the historic people and events that have touched this property since the colonial period.
