The Colonial Experience

The Colonial Experience

About

The time is the pivotal year 1774 , when America was a colony of Great Britain. Through this fully immersive historical event, visitors can join Sam Adams at the local tavern to hear about the King’s tyranny. Adams, visibly upset about taxes and tea, will share his grievances. Stop by the Colonial Warehouse, filled with America’s exports, such as lumber, tobacco, indigo, and whale oil, which are being shipped to England. Local merchants will discuss the Non-Importation Act.

More than 60 re-enactors will be dressed in period attire and persona, providing a first-hand re-enactment of a life that propelled the pioneers to fight for their freedom. This promises to be a great educational experience, offering opportunities such as a visit to the Customs House for local goods, and the Secret Smuggler’s Warehouse for the more affordable and available underground imports.

A visit to the Tea Room is a must. Here, participants will learn about the “Boston Tea Party” and enjoy authentic “Boston Tea Party” tea, along with a sampling of sweets. Visitors will discover how the Boston Tea Party brought the Colonies together for the First Continental Congress in September of 1774.

Several frontier demonstrations will take place, such as candle making, salt production, and tool crafting. Patriot cooks will be preparing a feast over an open fire for the re-enactors. Visitors can observe the foods common to the time, and watch how it was prepared over an open fire.
