Virginia Women in the American Revolution: Correcting the Historical Record

Virginia Women in the American Revolution: Correcting the Historical Record

About

Contrary to long-standing myth, Virginia women participated in the American Revolution in a variety of ways. Historians Rebecca Rose and Cassandra Good will discuss two such ways: Women's role in the Army and their political participation on the homefront. Rebecca and Cassandra will share what they learned from images, pension records, and other primary and secondary sources, and how they turned their research into entries for Virginia Humanities' Encyclopedia Virginia.
