"Rockbridge & The Vietnam War"

The Rockbridge Historical Society wraps its "Revolutionary Year"-- and turns toward the 250th Anniversary of American Independence in 2026 --  with an interactive, inter-generational VA250 series to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the end of The Vietnam War.

**November 5 - December 14: Opening just in time for Veterans Day, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture's statewide traveling exhibition, "Virginia & the Vietnam War," welcomes visitors to its two-month run at the RHS Museum, complemented by locally-loaned artifacts & multimedia oral history kiosk (FREE, 101 E. Washington St., Fri/Sat/Sun 12-4 PM; also on show during weekdays at the Lexington Library, 138 S. Main: M-Th, 10 AM -7 PM).

**December 7: "Rockbridge & The Vietnam War": Veterans’ Roundtable, Community Open Mic, Displays of Local Artifacts, and 'Vietnam Book Lists (RCHS Auditorium, 2-4 PM).Saturday, December 13: Open House and Closing Reception for 2025 Exhibits: "Rockbridge at Play: Toys, Games & Histories" and "Virginia & The Vietnam War" (RHS Museum, 12-4 PM).

**December 17: "Revolutionary Films, 1776-2026": free screening and discussion of the 1968 warfront/homefront episode of Ken Burns' documentary, "The Vietnam War"(Lexington Library, 6-8 PM).

**January 13: "Revolutionary Reading Group, 1776-2026": Tim O'Brien's Vietnam memoir, "The Things They Carried" and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s catalyzing 1967 speech, "Beyond Vietnam" (Lexington Library, 5:30-7:00 PM).

**January 14: A final Vietnam-themed film to be screened, title to be chosen at the initial "Revolutionary Films" screening on December 14 (Lexington Library, 6-8 PM).
