Integrated Marketing Director

About Us
The Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) is leading Virginia’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and the founding of the United States. This multi-year initiative will showcase Virginia’s essential role in the creation of our nation through educational programs, community engagement, and signature events that honor our complex history and diverse perspectives.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Integrated Marketing Director to lead our marketing efforts for this historic commemoration. This strategic leadership role will oversee the internal marketing team while managing relationships with external agency partners to create and implement comprehensive, innovative marketing strategies that inspire participation across the Commonwealth and beyond. The Integrated Marketing Director reports directly to the VA250 Commission’s Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for VA250
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the internal integrated marketing team
  • Oversee external agency relationships including those focused on marketing strategy, advertising, public relations, media planning/buying, and fundraising
  • Align marketing initiatives with the Commission’s mission, goals, and commemorative timeline
  • Report directly to the Executive Director, providing regular updates on marketing initiatives and outcomes

Project Management & Planning

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive workback schedules for all marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Establish clear project timelines, milestones, and deliverable deadlines for internal teams and external partners
  • Implement efficient project management methodologies to ensure on-time delivery of all marketing activities
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks to project timelines and marketing deliverables
  • Manage complex multi-year planning calendars aligned with the commemoration’s milestones

Partnership & Collaboration

  • Foster productive relationships with historical sites, museums, educational institutions, tourism entities, and community organizations
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with local and regional VA250 committees across Virginia
  • Work closely with fundraising teams to support development goals through strategic marketing
  • Collaborate with the communications team to maintain consistent messaging across all platforms
  • Build partnerships with media outlets and influential organizations to expand reach

Marketing Execution & Oversight

  • Direct the creation of compelling content that connects Virginia’s revolutionary history to contemporary audiences
  • Oversee brand management and ensure consistent application across all initiatives
  • Manage marketing budgets and resource allocation for maximum impact
  • Develop key performance indicators and analyze marketing metrics to optimize strategies
  • Implement innovative approaches to engage diverse audiences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Experience managing both internal teams and external agency relationships
  • Strong project management skills with experience developing and maintaining workback schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines
  • Strong background in strategic planning, budget management, and performance analysis
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with cultural, historical, tourism and/or nonprofit marketing preferred
  • Interest in Virginia history and appreciation for diverse historical perspectives

Confidential Office Assistant

The VA250 Commission is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Confidential Office Assistant to support daily office operations and assist leadership with administrative tasks. This part-time role requires 24 hours per week, with in-office work from Monday through Wednesday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily office operations to ensure efficiency.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director and CFO, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
  • Organize, copy, and maintain files to support record-keeping and compliance.
  • Assist with data entry, report preparation, and internal communications as needed.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the Commission’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative training is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or office support role is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office technology.
  • Experience with Cardinal FIN/HCM systems is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
