About

The ACHS is a local non-profit dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich and complex history of the Albemarle-Charlottesville area. ACHS offers monthly speaker events, exhibitions, publications, oral history collection, genealogical services, and other educational programs. The ACHS research library contains thousands of books, periodicals, pamphlets, manuscripts, and maps; and the museum collections includes over 1,500 artifacts of historical significance to our community.

Open Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm and other times by appointment. No admission charge. Research inquires can be sent to library@albemarlehistory.org. Walking tours can be scheduled through programs@albemarlehistory.org.
