About

The home was built by the Burwell family of the Tidewater area in 1798. William A. Burwell served as Secretary to Thomas Jefferson.

In 1850 the estate was sold to Thomas J. Holland and has remained in the Holland family since that time, earning the designation as a "Virginia Century Farm." It is also listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

It is currently owned by John and Shirley Holland.
