Jefferson, Power, and America at 250

About

Free lecture and rare book display by W&L Politics Professor Brian Alexander. Co-sponsored by the Rockbridge Historical Society, W&L University Library, and Rockbridge-VA250: American Revolutions.

A half hour before and after the talk, visit next door with W&L Special Collections' Seth McCormick-Goodhart to view their copy of the 1801 Congressional Manual that Jefferson published, one of only three copies annotated in his own hand. Based on Alexander’s work, the second edition of Jefferson’s manual from 1812 was incorporated into the "House Rules and Manual," for the 119th Congress.
