Exploring the History of Whiskey in Early America

About

Many of us know that George Washington was the first president of our country, but did you know he was also one of the most successful distillers of whiskey in early America? Join the Loudoun VA250 Committee and Scott Harris, founder of Catoctin Creek Distillery, to learn more about the early history of whiskey in America - a story of tradition, innovation, and cultural evolution. Catoctin Creek Distillery will host the program on Thursday evening, January 8th at 7:00pm.
Scott will explore how whiskey has played a significant role in shaping our nation’s identity and character, from its beginnings during the colonial period through the late 18th century, when American farmers, particularly on the western frontier, began producing whiskey in larger quantities. We’ll learn how the combination of rich farmland and a growing demand for distilled spirits led to the rise of whiskey as a major industry in the young United States.
Tickets for the program are $20 and pre-registration is required. Drinks may be purchased separately. Catoctin Creek® - Celebrating Virginia 250 Years: Exploring the History of Whiskey in Early America.
