Westfield HS Jazz Band and Herndon Regional Wind Ensemble will present a FREE concert celebrating the USA's 250th birthday on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 4pm in the auditorium at Westfield HS.

"Reflections: An America250 Musical Tribute" is a celebration of 250 years of the American experience through the music of American composers and arrangers, such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Carmen Dragon, James Barnes, Brian Balmages, James Sochinski, and more.

Concert selections will also include a memorial tribute to friend and colleague, Erica Hirt, who lost her courageous battle against cancer in December.

This concert is FREE and open to all.


ABOUT HERNDON REGIONAL WIND ENSEMBLE

Herndon Regional Wind Ensemble (HRWE), a Virginia 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, offers local musicians a professional environment to assemble and play for their mutual enjoyment, provides cultural and educational enrichment for the community, and develops musical skills in students and musicians of all ages. Currently, we have over 75 active members from across Northern Virginia. Representing diverse ages and backgrounds, our members include students, music educators, working professionals, stay-at-home parents, and retirees. In addition to hosting several free community concerts each year, HRWE regularly performs at festivals, such as the Prince William Community Band Festival and the National Community Band Festival held at George Mason University each June. Our small ensemble (Herndon Regional Winds) provides musical accompaniment at community and charitable events, such as United Airlines' North Pole Fantasy Flight for children in hospice care. We have a long tradition of collaborating with local school band programs and students, who gain valuable musical experience and benefit greatly from mentorships and collaboration with adults of all ages in the group. Our recent designation as a Fairfax County Public Schools Ignite Partner will enable us to extend our educational programming and reach even more young musicians.
