Chickahominy Water Trail

Chickahominy Water Trail

About

The Chickahominy Water Trail, as a leg of the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, leads paddlers and boaters in the wake of Captain Smith up the Chickahominy River.

Interpretive displays reveal the historical, cultural and ecological secrets of the 'Chick' while a free map and guide identifies wildlife and orients trail users to important water access information. Explore the lore of the Chickahominy River by paddling its creeks, fishing its waters, birding its swamps, hunting its marshes, or tracing its history and culture in the modern landscape.

Learn more about the Chickahominy Water Trail, Captain Smiths travels, and Chickahominy culture by visiting interpretive signs at Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Rivers Rest Marina, Rockahock Campground, and the Chickahominy Tribal Center.
