J. Foster Historic Signs

About

This exhibit showcases the artistry and scholarship of Virginia artisan Jackson Foster, who recreates the character and presence of American and English signboards from the 18th and 19th centuries. Drawing on historical research and using reclaimed wood and period-appropriate materials, Foster’s work reflects the craftsmanship, traditions, and visual culture of early sign makers.
