Just in time for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, 1776 brings history to life with wit, drama, and stirring music.
Set in the sweltering summer of 1776, the fate of a new nation hangs in the balance-if only our founding fathers can agree to declare independence. This Tony Award-winning musical by Peter Stone (book) and Sherman Edwards (music and lyrics) follows the passionate John Adams of Massachusetts, the wisecracking Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and the eloquent young Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they struggle to unite a divided Continental Congress and sign the document that will change the course of history: the Declaration of Independence.
