The Great Manassas Campout

The Great Manassas Campout

About

Celebrate history, nature, and community under the stars at the inaugural Great Manassas Campout, May 2–3, 2026, at the historic Liberia Historic House and Grounds. Guests are invited to pitch tents on these important historic grounds first patented in 1732 as the Bull Run Tract and home to the Liberia House built in 1825. The property has a long history including the stories of the owners, the Weir family; the Naylor family, the enslaved people who were left to care for the property during the Civil War; and a visit by President Abraham Lincoln while the region was at the center of the 1862 national events. The house will be open for tours.

The Great Manassas Campout, a family-friendly overnight experience, blends heritage tourism with outdoor adventure and features campfires, acoustic music, stargazing under the Full Flower Moon, pollinator and conservation activities, and a history of the Liberia House and Grounds. Part of the America250 and VA250 commemorative season and aligned with Preservation Week, the event invites visitors to connect with Virginia’s deep history while creating new memories on a landscape that has witnessed nearly three centuries of American life.

Hosted by Theresa Coates Ellis, Patron Manassas City Council Member and Founder, Friends of the Manassas Bee Festival. Partnering with the City of Manassas. Liberia House and Grounds is home to the annual Manassas Bee Festival, a Bee City USA initiative to save our pollinators and to plant native.
