Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM)

Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM)

About

Housed in historic Town Hall/Market House (c. 1816), FAM's collection of objects span more than ten thousand years of history! Ranging from Native American artifacts to Black Lives Matter posters, the objects support the vast and rich stories of our community and offer insight into the lives of those that have paddled our river, walked our streets, worked our fields, run our businesses and government, attended our schools and churches, and participate in national movements.

FAM is open Thursday - Monday: 10 AM – 5 PM, admission is free on Mondays (#MuseumMonday) and always free for our members.

Featured exhibitions include: World Aflame - A Hometown in Two World Wars, The PNC Legacy Collection previously housed in the National Bank Building at 900 Princess Anne Street, and Pleasure's Past an exhibition on the history of entertainment in Fredericksburg. Additionally, visitors are welcome to view the museum's redesigned object and textile collection storage areas.

FAM also holds events such as Sounds of Summer Concert Series on Friday nights throughout the summer, "Fit with FAM" workouts on Wednesday mornings, Armed Forces Concert Series, as well as fundraising events throughout the year.

Visit our new website for a complete list of upcoming exhibitions, events, programs, and family activities.
