Lewis Store

Lewis Store

About

Initially constructed in 1749 by John Lewis and his son, Fielding, George Washington's brother-in-law, the Lewis Store is a significant example of Georgian Commercial architecture and one of the oldest urban retail buildings in the United States. The building was restored by the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation, Inc, and contains the organization's office, archives, and a local history gift shop. Come see where George Washington and his sister, Betty Lewis, shopped in Fredericksburg and walk away with some revolutionary history!

Open to the public Wednesday-Saturday, 12-4 pm
