Campaigns That Shaped America

Campaigns That Shaped America

About

"Campaigns That Shaped America" is a major new multimedia exhibition at the Center for Politics at UVA, created to mark Virginia's and the nation's 250th anniversaries. Through original campaign artifacts, rare memorabilia, and one-of-a-kind political objects spanning the history of the American republic, the exhibition explores how presidential campaigns have shaped leadership, citizenship, public debate, and the nation itself. From George Washington to Donald Trump, it presents presidential campaigns as one of the central forces in defining who we are as a nation. Just as important, it considers what comes next and how politics might be improved.

Bringing together objects, images, sound, film, and stories from across American history, the exhibition invites visitors to see politics as it is: ambitious, messy, deeply human, and consequential in shaping American democracy. Grand opening Sat. April 11th, 11am-3pm then weekdays 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the UVA Center for Politics.
