A Common Cause To All

A Convening of States

Monday, March 24 – Wednesday, March 26, 2025

State planners of the 250th commemoration will convene at The Williamsburg Lodge for the third and final time for A Common Cause To All. This event is poised to be the biggest ever, following immediately after the 250th anniversary of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech, March 23, 2025. Just like the highly successful first two convenings, the 2025 edition of A Common Cause To All will provide an opportunity for state planners and Virginia localities to collaborate on ideas and plans for the semiquincentennial and it will also host a diverse group of speakers that will bring their perspectives to these discussions.

Registrations are closed.

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture will be hosting this livestream at the museum. Also, all Common Cause registrants get free admission to the VMHC and access the Virginia’s official 250th exhibition, “Give Me Liberty: Virginia & the Forging of a Nation,” which was produced in partnership by the VMHC and Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and is presented by VA250.

Preview of Ken Burns’s Upcoming Film, The American Revolution

The American Revolution

The highlight of this year’s convening will be a free public preview of documentary filmmaker Ken Burns’ newest and highly anticipated documentary, The American Revolution. Colonial Williamsburg is excited to invite the public to this special outdoor event (weather permitting) on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. on Palace Green in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area. Featuring live remarks by Ken Burns, followed by an outdoor screening on the lawn fronting the Governor’s Palace, guests will watch history unfold on the very grounds where so much of America’s revolutionary thinking took shape. Admission is free but we encourage you to register to receive event updates, including inclement weather notices, via text message and email.

If you have registered for A Common Cause To All, then you are already registered for this event.
