Virginia Invites Visitors to Reconnect with their Country as U.S. Approaches its 250th Anniversary

VA250 Celebrates the Commonwealth’s Role in Nation’s Founding with “America Made In Virginia” Signature Event Series, VA250 Passport and More

As America enters its 250th anniversary year, Virginia’s American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) is inviting visitors to reconnect with their country, in the place that made it possible – the Commonwealth of Virginia. From its founding ideas to its leading figures, more of what made America happen, happened in Virginia, which makes Virginia the ideal place to learn about our nation’s beginnings, no matter what state you call home.

During the country’s Semiquincentennial year, Virginia will host events, programs and promotions that educate Americans about our history, engage with every community to tell a complete story, and inspire people to recommit to the values inherent in citizenship – ultimately helping form the “more perfect union” envisioned by the Revolutionary generation.

America. Made In Virginia. Signature Event Series

America. Made In Virginia. signature events bring Virginians together to mark the defining moments, people, and ideas that shaped our nation – and to reflect on what those stories mean today. The 2026 series kicks off April 25 with America’s Semiquincentennial Celebration: Inspiring A Season of Civic Renewal at Colonial Williamsburg. The event will highlight the sovereign status and existence of Tribal Nations, exploring the unique, complicated, and intertwined diplomatic relationship with the United States.

On July 4, 2026, the Commonwealth will host a landmark day of celebration beginning with a Naturalization Ceremony at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello—an annual tradition for more than six decades. The day will culminate that evening at Colonial Williamsburg with America Made In Virginia: 250 Years Together, a free two-hour live event and telecast featuring stirring performances from outstanding American artists and a fireworks display for the ages.
