Historic Henry County Courthouse

About

The Historic Henry County Courthouse, recognized as a community landmark, is home to the Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society as well as the Heritage Center & Museum, which showcases a variety of exhibits of local and regional history. It is centrally located in the Martinsville Historic District and is open to the public for tours and meetings. The courthouse was constructed in 1824. Over the years, additions were added to the structure. It is situated within what is termed courthouse square. The front lawn is accented by a variety of wartime and commemorative markers that have been placed over the years. This is the first stop of the "Walking Tour of Historic UpTown Martinsville." A guidebook of the tour is available at the Historic Henry County Courthouse and at the MHC Visitor Center at 191 Fayette Street.

Admission is free. The Courthouse is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 pm until 4 pm.
