The New Market Battlefield Military Museum took inspiration from Arlington House, formally the Custis-Lee Mansion in Arlington, Virginia. Mansions of this type were commonplace throughout the 19th century south and help to set the tone for showcasing its history. Open in 1988, the museum is now 10,800 sq ft and showcases roughly 3,000 relics inside 125 display cases.
