Fourth of July

The 250th commemoration of the founding of the United States will take place on July 4, 2026. In Virginia, the celebration has already begun. The VA250 Commission is hosting a series of Independence Day events from 2024 through 2026.

Planning a July 4th event? Consider adding a public reading of the Declaration of Independence. This tradition is a long-standing one and commemorates the day the document was adopted by the Continental Congress in 1776. Click here for resources and suggestions on how to organize your community.
