Brendon S. Burns: Revolutionary War Records in Virginia and Lineage Societies

About

Do you have an ancestor who resided in Virginia during the Revolutionary War and were curious whether he may have served in the war? Have you possibly considered applying to a lineage society such as the DAR, SAR, or CAR under said ancestor? This presentation tackles what constitutes a "patriot" during the Revolutionary War with a focus on Virginia residents and resources. From muster rolls to the court books, this presentation will cover some known and not-so-known collections you should consider in your research. This presentation will also include resources for researching patriots of color, as well as research strategies that determine whether the women or elderly men of your family may have also contributed to the patriotic cause.
