St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum in beautiful Smithfield, VA, has invited local and regional artists of all ages to take part in our Quarterly Artist Invitational, a celebration of creativity, community, and heritage. The first invitational will be held on Friday, April 3rd, 2026.
Each season, artists are invited to visit the beautiful and inspiring grounds of St. Luke’s, Virginia’s oldest brick church building, to sketch, paint, photograph, or create in any medium that speaks to them. The quiet beauty of the church, its surrounding cemetery, and the natural landscape offer endless possibilities for artistic expression. Visitors to St Luke’s are encouraged to explore the campus and enjoy watching the creative process unfold. All artwork will be included in a digital gallery. Works will be chosen for limited reproduction to be sold at St. Luke’s Gift Shop, with proceeds benefiting further Educational outreach initiatives.
