Clayton recounts his life's passion, his adventures into the wilderness, his scientific achievements, and friendships with leading minds of the Enlightenment, including Benjamin Franklin and Carl Linnaeus. The result is a colorful, entertaining, and enlightening encounter with one of America’s most important-and least known-early scientists.
