The speaker will be Stuart L. Butler, former assistant branch chief of the Military Archives Division of the National Archives and author of Defending the Old Dominion: Virginia and its Militia in the War of 1812. The event will be hosted at Millmont that is located at 987 Mill Wharf Road in Wake. Built as a half house in 1810 along the southern shore of the Rappahannock River, the residents could have witnessed the journey of the ships that sailed to and from the Corrotoman River from which the most significant of those battles of 1812 took place. The event will take place on May 18 from 2 to 4PM. Fried oysters and ham biscuits will be served with wine and beer. Tickets are $45 for non-members, $35 for member and $100 for event sponsor ticket.
