Bolling/Lafayette Historical Marker Dedication

Please join the Richmond SAR in dedicating a historic marker honoring the teenage girl who saved General Lafayette from capture.When British General Cornwallis quartered in16-year-old Susanna Bolling's home, she overheard him plotting to capture General Lafayette, who was headquartered at the Half Way House, some 15 miles away. Susanna snuck out of her home, rode through the night and warned Lafayette, who escaped.
This event date also marks the 200th anniversary of Lafayette's visit to Richmond on his triumphant return tour to the U.S. The event is free and open to the public.
