Enslaved people were a significant investment and often an enslaver's most valuable asset. When the enslaved self-emancipated, enslavers frequently placed advertisements in not only their local newspaper but papers through the country, seeking to have their assets captured and returned to them. Join us as we take a look at these advertisements and discover a different perspective on the relationship between master and enslaved. Information: sch107@henrico.us
