The City of Alexandria’s George Washington Birthday Parade, the largest and oldest of its kind in the country, celebrates the legacy of General Washington in his adopted home town of Alexandria. The parade is expected to feature 1,500 participants, including drum corps, color guards, bands, city and community dignitaries, community and fraternal organizations, youth groups and, of course, General Washington and Martha Washington. In honor of Alexandria’s 275th Anniversary, the theme of the 2024 Parade is “George Washington: Alexandria’s Original Living Legend”, and the Parade Grand Marshals will be The Living Legends of Alexandria, a nonprofit organization that identifies, honors and chronicles the lives of individuals who have contributed to our community in an exemplary and lasting way.
